The Ukraine conflict since the end of last year has been controversial to say the least. Politicians from the EU and USA have been meddling in the conflict from the start when the world saw the likes of John McCain walking through crowds of anti-Yanukovich protestors, supporting them.
After the overthrow of Yanukovich we also saw Russians invade Crimea to defend against ‘Neo-Nazis’. To be fair to Putin their are some unsavoury characters within the revolutionary forces in the pro-western parts of the country.
From the outside however it has generally looked like outside influence making all the decisions in Ukraine and it seems now that the US’ grip is starting to wane somewhat, this is a tweet posted minutes ago by the US State Department, their ‘people’ seem not to be listening anymore and have started to attack the Russian embassy in Kiev.
Of course, the USA would say that it doesn’t ‘control’ the actions of anyone in Ukraine, and now it seems so, but I’d argue they lost control.
